March 2011

After driving the car for a month I still wasnt happy with the way the car was driving and realised the front shock absorbers were way past there best. I replaced them with OE spec Boge dampers to match the rear, the Eibach lowering springs were fitted by a previous owner and I re used them.
The old shocks were well worn and the pistons would not retract out of the body.

New shocks fitted, along with dustcovers and bumpstops.
The car was now sitting and driving very well
As it was driving well I decided to change the Vanos seals and bolts as these are notorious for the bolts breaking and then the unit has rapid oil loss causing engine damage. I got a seal kit from Steve@Mrvanos. http://www.mrvanos.com/
They came with good instructions and all torque settings and were a straightforward swap. My unit was making the rattle noise that they are notorious for, but I had no loss of performance. So the seals were preventative.
